Luna Alta in Bulgaria
We recently visited Bansko for ourselves, at the end of October 2006. Despite the state of the roads between Sofia (the capital and closest airport at present) and Bansko, the journey only took 2.5 hours.
The scenery once out of Sofia is beautiful, with open green fields, crops of maize, grazing sheep, goats, and horses. By mid 2007 the infrastructure will be so much improved and the journey much shorter! At present there are long stretches of motorway, with breaks in between. I was assured that 63,000,000 euros has been invested in the roads and we did witness the quick progress they are making, in just the few days we were there.
Once in Bansko, we were dropped off at our 4* hotel, The Orphey, located within a few hundred metres of the Old Town. Immaculate throughout, very comfortable, very inexpensive with friendly and attentive staff, speaking a multitude of languages!
New Developments in Bansko
After breakfast the next morning we were shown various developments, all within 10km of Bansko itself. The closest to the ski gondolas would to us, be the most popular & hence the most expensive. All offer spas, swimming pools, massage rooms, saunas, restaurants, shops, gym, Jacuzzi, conference rooms etc plus 24 hour security and rental management.
The Emerald Aparthotel from 66,000
The first to mention is The Emerald Aparthotel only 50m from the gondolas. Prices start at euros 66,000. Closer still is The Mountain Paradise by the Lifts, again with similar facilities but 7m from the lifts! Prices start at euros 61,950 furnished! Others include The Greenvale Aparthotel, 50m from the lifts, from euros 66,000, Bansko Pearl Casino and Spa only 500m from the gondolas, from euros 47,000. Further away from the ski slopes and closer to the village itself prices start at around euros 25,000.
To enjoy both ski and golf there is The Four Seasons Ski, Golf and Spa Resort, with all the facilities to include an 18 hole golf course!! This is set in the heart of the next village Razlog, only 5km from the slopes (shuttle service provided!). Prices here start at euros 38,000. In the village of Bansko itself we offer Banderitsa III from euros 43,000, Bell Tower III from euros 47,000, Tanne from euros 35,400, Snow Moraya from euros 25,500, Phoenix II from euros 50,869, Gergana from euros 47,430 and more!
Many offer a bank guaranteed rental income. During our stay we were delighted with the friendly, relaxed attitude towards us, the foreigners, the marvellous food, fresh vegetables, good wine, interesting and charming architecture, pretty cobbled streets, green mountains, lush fauna and ridiculous prices. The fresh mountain air made us very tired!
Inspection trips for November, December & January are euros 49 from Gatwick, Manchester and Dublin including flights, accommodation and transport!! Ridiculous prices!! We can help you book your flight!
